YOUR GUIDE TO APPROVED INSPECTION AUTHORITIES:

What is an Approved Inspection Authority?

An Approved Inspection Authority is a specialized group of compliance inspectors accredited by the Department of Employment and Labour. Their role is to conduct electrical compliance inspections to a specific standard on behalf of consumers or contractors.

Our Statutory Mandate:

Operating within the framework of the Electrical Installation Regulations, an Approved Inspection Authority plays a crucial role in enforcing and monitoring compliance standards. We collaborate with the Department of Employment and Labour to ensure electrical safety.

Why Choose an Approved Inspection Authority?

Exclusive Authorization: We are the only entity, besides the Department of Labour, authorized to inspect electrical installations.
Comprehensive Reporting: We issue detailed reports on compliance status and highlight any negligence by the installer or contractor.
Quality Assurance: Our statements and reports adhere to SANAS standards, providing irrefutable evidence with legal status. This becomes prima facie proof for your claim in any proceedings, expediting complaints and legal processes.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU ENCOUNTER A DEFECTIVE ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION OR HAVE A COMPLAINT AGAINST AN ELECTRICIAN OR ANY OTHER SAFETY CONCERN

  1. Prioritize Safety:

Immediately secure the installation by cutting off power. Do not use or tamper with the installation, as electricity can be extremely dangerous or fatal.

2. Caution with Inspection:

Avoid letting any other electrician inspect the installation. If another electrician does inspect it, they become liable for its safety under Electrical Installation Regulation 9(3). Interference might compromise the Certificate of Compliance, impact findings from the Approved Inspection Authority, and jeopardize the successful prosecution of your claim.

  1. Take Action:

Contact Bravo Scan or the Provincial Chief Inspector for the Department of Employment and Labour to conduct an inspection or report the defective installation.

Your safety is our priority. For expert assistance and to ensure a smooth resolution, contact us or complete our online customer form. We’re here to help safeguard your well-being and address any concerns promptly
